金華山は、宮城県石巻市の牡鹿半島の東の沖合に浮かぶ島で、

金華山黄金山神社があることでも知られています。

金華山灯台は、
明治9年（1876年）に初点灯された東北最古の石造灯台で、

北米航路の船舶が日本に戻る際、

「最初に目にする灯り」とも言われています。


遠い漁場で漁を終え、

帰航する船から小さく光る故郷の灯りが見えたとき、

漁師さんたちは、
無事に帰ってきたという安堵とともに、

疲れきった体に、
もうひと踏ん張りの力が湧いてくるような瞬間を迎えるのです。

『金華の灯り』は、
今も現役で大海の道しるべとなり、

磨さんが命をかけて漁に出ていたあの頃の記憶を、
そっと照らし続けている灯りなのかもしれません。

Kinkasan is an island located off the eastern coast of the Oshika Peninsula in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture.
It is also well known as the site of the Kinkasan Koganeyama Shrine.

The Kinkasan Lighthouse, first lit in 1876 (the 9th year of the Meiji era), is the oldest stone lighthouse in the Tohoku region.
It is said to be the first light that ships on the North American route see when returning to Japan.

When fishermen, having finished their work in distant fishing grounds, catch sight of the faint glow of their hometown’s light as they head back,
they are filled with relief at having returned safely.
In that very moment, even their exhausted bodies seem to find the strength for one last push.

“The Light of Kinka” still serves today as an active beacon, guiding vessels across the vast sea.

Perhaps it is also a light that gently continues to illuminate Migaku-san’s memories of those days when he risked his life at sea.
