昭和62年頃、父は母と温泉に行った帰りの車の中で、C.W.ニコルさんの小説『勇魚』（いさな）の話がラジオで流れ、すぐに小説を購入して読み、『勇魚』に魅せられ、それから何度も何度も読んだそうです。

遠洋漁業は長い航海となりますが、磨さんは休憩時間に小説を読むことが好きだったとのこと。

なぜに私には遺伝しなかったのでしょう。。。残念でなりません。（←活字が苦手な人）

そんな磨さんは『勇魚』と出会ってから16年後、奇跡の出会いを果たすことになります。

船が釧路の港に入り、馴染みのスナックにお酒を飲みに行くと、そこにはなんとC.W.ニコルさんがいたのです！

自分が好きな小説の作家さんに偶然会えるなんて、感動もひとしおですね！
C.W.ニコルさんとお酒を飲みながら、『勇魚』を熱く語った夜となった想い出の短歌です。

Around 1987, on the way home from a hot spring trip with my mother,
the story of C.W. Nicole's novel "Isana" was played on a radio.
My father immediately bought and read the novel, was fascinated by "Isana",
and then read it over and over again.

The pelagic fishing is a long voyage, but Migaku-san liked reading novels during breaks.

OMG! Why didn't I inherit his talent?
To be honest, I'm not good at reading.

16 years after he met "Isana", he will meet a miracle.

When the ship entered the port of Kushiro and went for a drink at his favorite bar,
C.W. Nicole was there!
It's amazing to be able to meet a novel writer you like by chance!
It is a tanka of memories that became a night when he talked passionately about "Isana"
while drinking alcohol with C.W. Nicole.



C.W.ニコルさんは7/17生まれだったのですね！ニコルさんの似顔絵を描いてみました～。



C.W.ニコルさんの『勇魚』は中古でしか購入できず、どうせなら磨さんに借りることにしました。
さっそく1ページ目で挫折しそうになっていますが。。。今年中には読んでみようと思います‼
