salmon fishing in the North Pacific
fleeting anchored in the port
thinking nostalgically street lights
in the bygones days

かつて函館は、母船式サケ・マス漁業の集結港でした。
街は漁師さんたちで賑わい、泊まる宿を探すのが大変なほどだったようです。

Hakodate was once a hub for mothership-type salmon and trout fisheries.
The town was so crowded with fishermen that it was difficult to find a place to stay.


母船へ接舷する写真がありました。
右側に少し写っているのが母船です。
8000～9000トンの大型漁船で、船内に魚を処理や加工をする設備があり、缶詰や塩蔵魚にする等もできます。

母船式サケマス漁業では、獲った魚は毎日母船へ水揚げします。
漁船が小さく見えますが、120トンの漁船です。
