MLB（メジャーリーグベースボール）は、

世界で活躍する日本人選手12名を讃えようと
それぞれのゆかりの地にオリジナルデザインのマンホールカバーを設置するプロジェクトを始めました。


大谷選手のマンホールカバーは、

岩手県奥州市の玄関口

新幹線の水沢江刺駅西口に設置済みで、

早速街も賑わっているようです。


無機質な鉄板の蓋に、
色鮮やかに描かれた二刀流の大谷翔平選手の活躍は、

輝かしい『誉の印』として刻まれ、


磨さんは、

その足元に宿る大きな夢を思い、川柳に詠みました。


普段は気づかずに通り過ぎる道端にも、

栄光を讃えた『誉の印』は、

今日も誰かの足元でひっそりと輝いていることでしょう。





Major League Baseball (MLB) has launched a project to honor twelve Japanese players who have made their mark on the world stage by installing specially designed manhole covers in places connected to each of them.

Shohei Ohtani's manhole cover has already been installed at the west exit of Mizusawa-Esashi Station—the gateway to Oshu City in Iwate Prefecture—and the area is already bustling with excitement.

On the once plain iron cover,
a vividly colored image of two-way star Shohei Ohtani in action now shines proudly a brilliant "mark of honor" etched into the cityscape.

Inspired by the dreams that dwell beneath our feet,
Migaku-san captured the moment in a senryu verse.

Even by the roadside where we usually pass by without a second glance,
a quiet mark of honor celebrating glory is likely shining at someone’s feet again today.
