春漁の兆し見えたか海猫（ごめ）騒ぐ

春の訪れを告げるように

海面近くでイサダ（オキアミ）が群れ始めると、

いち早くそれを察知したウミネコやカモメたちが騒がしく飛び交いはじめます。


海鳥の動きは、

漁師さんにとって海の変化を知らせる大切なサインの一つです。


それは魚たちの餌が豊富に集まっている証拠で、
やがて本格的な春漁が始まる兆しでもあります。


磨さんは、

海鳥のざわめきに季節の移ろいを感じながら、
今年の春漁も豊漁であることを願い、

川柳に詠みました。

As if to herald the coming of spring, swarms of isada (krill) begin to gather near the surface of the sea.
Sensing this at once, black-tailed gulls and other seagulls wheel overhead in noisy excitement.

For the fishermen, the movements of seabirds are one of the sea’s most telling signs of change.

They signal that food for the fish is plentifully gathered—and that the full spring fishing season is soon to begin.

Feeling the turning of the seasons in the restless cries of the seabirds, Migaku-san composed this senryū,
wishing for a bountiful spring catch this year as well.
